Who Teaches Abroad?

Home

Anyone who loves people, is curious about other cultures and wants a unique experience. Teaching English is something many graduates choose to do as a great way to gain useful experience and to see a little of the world. Although there is no requirement to be a graduate to either do a TEFL training course or to get a job it is only possible to get a working visa in some countries with a degree - for example in Japan.

There are many qualifications which can prepare you for a job teaching English overseas and whether you fancy a year or two in Europe, South America or Asia there are plenty of good schools out there for you to work in. There is no reason to stop there - there are jobs all over the world teaching and as you gain more experience you will find other opportunities opening up. English Language Teaching is one of the UK's biggest export earners bringing in around £2billion a year and so offering a very wide range of careers as well as teaching - in marketing, admin, management, course book writing and so on. Salaries can be equivalent to main scale state teaching positions in the UK. The biggest English Language teaching organisations are global companies with turnovers of many millions of pounds.
